Luxury handwoven textile collections, designed and made in the Shetland Isles, Scotland.
About...
Scottish based textile designer Amy Gair founded the Browns Road label in 2015 after completing a Masters in Fashion and Textiles at The Glasgow School of Art.
The launch of her accessories line combines the influence of Shetland as a remote island located between mainland Scotland and Norway in the North Sea. Her designs are hugely influences by the remote Shetland location, rugged and exquisite landscape, rough stormy weather and the unique culture and textile heritage.
Made in Scotland...
An importance of creating products which move away from throw away clothing, the hand woven luxury products from Browns Road are made in the Shetland Isles, Scotland and are produced to last.
It is also important to use 100% Shetland wool where suitable and it is located from Jamieson and Smith - The Shetland Wool Brokers in Lerwick. Their fleece for wool is sourced from over 700 crofters in Shetland and then hand graded to ensure the highest quality yarn is produced for each grade.
Combinations of 100% Shetland wool, cashmere, lambswool and merino are used to produce Browns Road products, varying what the end product is.
